Centraal Museum Utrecht asked Mark Koehler Architect to design an exhibition of work of various illustrators from the province of Utrecht ‘Drawn on paper’(’Op papier gezet’) as part of the 25th anniversary of the contemporary drawings collection of Utrecht(2010).

Together with Marc Koehler we created an optical illusion that stretches the display surfaces onto the floor. This opened up a range of original display patterns linked to themes of drawings (figures, portraits, structures, landscapes, series and nudes). The different patterns allow the visitor to discover unexpected relations between the works.

To support this 3d concept that plays with perspective and alters the visual perception of the exhibition spaces we designed clean and simple floor graphics and object signs to enhance the concept.
